Hey y’all, I’m Karen Tindall Tillery, my friends call me KT and I’m excited to give you a glimpse into my crazy whirlwind of a life. I am a Birmingham born Southern girl, follower of Jesus and an Auburn University graduate, WAR EAGLE! My journey has been one of ambition, creativity, and a deep love for turning the old into something beautiful and new. As a go-getter by heart I proudly wear many hats, running not just one, but 2, crazy, fun, and amazing businesses: Restoration Log Cabin Rentals and Karen Tillery Designs. .
I love ALL my jobs, from Mom and Gigi to designer and cabin rental manager to builder of hand-hewn log cabins. I started working with old, reclaimed buildings and materials over 30 years ago. I have renovated a whole bunch of houses and actually built my first house 24 years ago. I renovated my first cabin 24 years ago and finally got my builders license about 12 years ago so I could start designing and building for other people. My love for renovating and restoring 1800’s log cabins and barns, combined with my design business, has led to an awesome late life career as a designer on the TV show "Barnwood Builders". My passion? Taking the worn, the weathered, and the forgotten, and weaving magic in a way that turns these places into breathtaking creations. There's something incredibly satisfying about giving life to forgotten beauty and I revel in every moment of the transformation process.
I love, love, love my precious family. As a mom to four wonderful kiddos and grandmother to four adorable grands every moment with them is precious. I just wish they all lived closer, so we had more of those moments. I love to draw and paint and I get to enjoy that as part of my everyday life with my design business. I also love to hike I used to love to read, but let’s be real… I run 2 businesses, I get 3 pages in and I’m out like a light.🤣

I have looked forward to this day since the moment my baby girl told me she wanted to pursue a career in Interior Design. Welcome aboard Bizzie Tillery as the newest designer at Karen Tillery Designs!!!
Bizzie is freshly graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Interior Design. She brings with her excitement, new ideas, new style and a little bit of attitude...after all, she is my daughter. LOL She is creative and bold with a classic style that already leans toward a little historic flair. She will push the design envelope even further than I have with envisioning new life and design into our projects. You guys may have seen Bizzie on the final episode of Barnwood Builders in season 19. She came along with me on that build and was a tremendous asset to the whole team in finishing out and staging Barnwood Village in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Bizzie's formal training in computer drafting and 3D renderings have already been a much needed addition to communicating ideas clearly to our clients. While we may be able to picture in our heads the final outcome of a project, most people cannot. Bizzie has been able to take our actual finish selections for walls, floors and ceilings, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures and furnishings and create 3D visuals for our clients of their homes BEFORE we even break ground on a project. Ya'll just don't even know how excited this makes me!!! With Bizzie being the caboose of 3 older brothers, she came into this world ready to find her own place and stand out. This next phase of her life is going to be amazing and I am so glad that I get a front row seat to see all the wonderful things that God has planned for her life. While I know this time with us working together may not be forever, I'm going to cherish every second of being able to create beautiful structures with my little girl and have a whole lot of fun along the way! Let's go do great things together!❤️ |
